Rory McIlroy returns to the Fed Ex St. Jude Championship this week, live on Sky Sports, as the world No 2 positions himself for a record‑extending 4th title. He is 12th in the season‑long standings, and only the top 50 after this event will move on to the BMW Championship, with the top 30 advancing to the season‑ending Tour Championship.

The 69‑man field at TPC Southwind in Memphis also features world No 1 Scottie Scheffler and defending champion Justin Rose. McIlroy’s recent form—tied‑19th at the புத்த Truist Championship, tied‑12th at The Memorial and a shared seventh at the Genesis Scottish Open—shows he’s ready to compete.

Brad Faxon, McIlroy’s putting mentor, said the 37‑year‑old now has the freedom to cherry‑pick tournaments, citing both financial and mental relief after back‑to‑back Masters titles. “He’s not physically tired after a round, but the mental fatigue of constant spotlight is real,” Faxon explained.

The Fed Ex Cup playoffs award 750 points to winners of the first two events, and the final Tour Championship starts all players at even par. The champion earns a $10m prize, a five‑year PGA Tour exemption, and a guaranteed spot at the 2027 Masters.
