Rory McIlroy finished 66th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, expressing frustration with his performance. "I am so far away from where I need to be," the six-time major winner said after posting rounds of 74, 70, 72, and 72 for an eight-over total.

McIlroy, who successfully defended his Masters title earlier this year, has played a limited schedule since with only two top-10 finishes in seven tournaments. Entering the first of three FedEx Cup Playoffs 12th in the standings, he is attempting to win a record-extending fourth season-ending title.

"Obviously, I didn't come in here with a ton of reps," McIlroy explained. "I felt like the more the week went on, the more I felt lost with my golf swing."

With the top 50 advancing to the BMW Championship, McIlroy acknowledged he needs significant improvement before next week's event. "I'm going to have to work pretty hard, put my head down and grind between now and next Thursday to have any sort of golf game to compete next week."
