Manchester United have completed the signing of midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton. The Cameroon international, 22, joins in a deal worth up to £70m, with a £65m guaranteed fee plus £5m in add-ons. He has signed a five-year contract with an option for a further year.

Baleba is currently injured after picking up an ankle issue in pre-season, but Sky Sports News understands he could return by mid-September. His arrival ends a transfer saga lasting almost 12 months, with United's interest first reported last autumn. He becomes their third midfield addition after Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

"It is an incredible feeling to join the club of my dreams," Baleba said. "Playing at Old Trafford is always special, but the opportunity to do so as a Manchester United player will be a real honour." He praised coach Michael Carrick and expressed determination to deliver success.

Baleba joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, making 112 appearances. He featured 35 times last season and missed a spell while representing Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations. In an emotional farewell, he thanked Brighton for their support, saying, "Wherever I play, this club is in how I play. Good luck Seagulls."
