Lydia Ko is aiming to "channel her inner Foxy" at the AIG Women's Open, inspired by Ryan Fox's recent victory at The Open. Fox's dramatic one-shot win at Royal Birkdale made him only the third New Zealander to win a men's major, and the first since Bob Charles in 1963.

Ko, who will compete at Royal Lytham & St Annes, the same venue where Charles triumphed, expressed her excitement for Fox's success, admitting she was moved to tears watching his final holes. She hopes to emulate his "fearlessness" as she competes for her fourth major title and second AIG Women's Open.

Despite a mixed performance in the year's previous majors, Ko finished tied-15th at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and seventh at the Amundi Evian Championship. She is set to play alongside Nelly Korda and Haeran Ryu, acknowledging the challenging nature of the Royal Lytham course. Ko believes winning the AIG Women's Open, especially after Fox's major breakthrough, would be "very meaningful and very empowering for golf in New Zealand."
