Olympic champion Lin Yu-ting has been cleared to return to international boxing competition following a successful appeal against her sex eligibility. The 30-year-old Taiwanese fighter, who won gold alongside Algerian Imane Khelif at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was previously disqualified from the 2023 World Championships by the now-defunct International Boxing Association (IBA). World Boxing, which took over as the sport's governing body last year, implemented a new sex eligibility policy requiring a one-time genetic test to detect a Y chromosome.

Lin has been absent from major events since the policy's introduction but will now compete starting at the Asian Boxing Championships in Mongolia from March 29th to April 10th. World Boxing confirmed her eligibility without disclosing the test results, praising Taiwan's federation for correctly following their policy designed to ensure safety and sporting integrity. Khelif, who also won gold in Paris, has indicated she may take the same test to defend her title at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
