Nottingham Forest have signed striker Liam Delap from Chelsea in a club-record deal worth at least £45m, potentially rising to £50m with add-ons. The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the City Ground. Chelsea stand to make up to £20m profit on Delap, having signed him from Ipswich Town last summer for £30m following their relegation.

Delap scored 12 Premier League goals in 37 games for Ipswich in 2024/25 but managed only three goals in 47 appearances for Chelsea. He said: "I really can't wait to get started. This is a massive club with a big history...

I spoke to the manager and I like his way. I think he can be the one to really help me develop." Forest's previous record signing was Omari Hutchison for £37.5m from Ipswich in August 2025. Sky Sports News' James Savundra noted Chelsea capitalised on a market opportunity, while Forest addressed their need for a natural No 9 under manager Oliver Glasner, who has previously succeeded with focal-point strikers like Jean-Philippe Mateta and Wout Weghorst.

Chris Wood has struggled with injuries, and Taiwo Awoniyi has been sold, leaving Arnaud Kalimuendo as the only other option.
