Marta Kostyuk secured her place in the French Open semi-finals with a 6-3 2-6 6-2 victory over Elina Svitolina in an emotional all-Ukraine quarter-final. The 23-year-old dedicated her win to the Ukrainian people following overnight attacks on Kyiv that killed at least 18 civilians. Kostyuk, who leads clay-court play with a 17-0 record this season, became the first Ukrainian woman to reach Roland-Garros semi-finals since 1968.

Kostyuk has refused to shake hands with Russian and Belarusian players since the war began, calling for more clarity from Russian athletes about the conflict. She will now face 19-year-old Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva, who dominated Sorana Cirstea 6-0 6-3. Kostyuk holds a 2-0 advantage over Andreeva, including a win in the Madrid final last month.

With defending champion Coco Gauff and four-time winner Iga Swiatek eliminated, Andreeva emerges as a contender for her maiden Grand Slam title. The Russian teenager became the youngest player this century with 16 main draw wins in Paris. Kostyuk's historic run provides a rare moment of international visibility for Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict.
