Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme has declared that Jurgen Klopp will be his preferred head coach if elected on Sunday, setting up a fascinating managerial battle against incumbent Florentino Perez. Riquelme claims he will install club legend Raul as sporting director, with Klopp as his sole recommendation for the managerial position.

The candidate has also promised to sign Manchester City stars Erling Haaland and Rodri, even producing a Real shirt with Haaland's name. However, City strongly denies any release clause exists and confirmed they are exploring legal action over the image rights stunt. Haaland's representatives dismissed the claims as entertainment rather than reality.

Perez has countered with his own pledges, naming Jose Mourinho as Real's next manager if re-elected. He also committed to signing defenders Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate, plus launching a €150m bid for a European star, reportedly Bayern Munich's Michael Olise.

Klopp currently serves as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull since January 2025 and has twice stated he is finished coaching, though he recently admitted remaining open to club management opportunities. The German dismissed earlier Real Madrid rumors but acknowledged his coaching career may not be over.
