Jan Brueghel ended a long layoff with a commanding victory in the Ladbrokes Ormonde Stakes at Chester on Thursday. After a disappointing King George at Ascot, the 2024 St Leger winner bounced back, taking the lead when the pace quickened and pulling clear to beat Mount Atlas by two and a half lengths. The colt started at 4/7 favourite and was guided home by Ryan Moore.

A. O'Brien’s string of Classic trial successes continued as Constitution River captured the Boodles Raindance Dee Stakes with ease. Despite a one‑hour delay caused by a track inspection, the Ballydoyle colt, entered at 2/9, steamrolled the field, winning by seven lengths over Generic. The win reinforces O'Brien’s dominance and positions Constitution River as a leading Derby prospect, already listed at 7/1 by Betfred.

Local favourite Roman Dragon added to his Chester résumé by taking the five‑furlong CAA Stellar Handicap, edging out stablemate Dubai Bling by a head at 4/1. The Heena‑trained gelding notched his eighth win on the Roodee, confirming his affinity for the circuit. Trainer Hugo Palmer stressed the horse’s preference for turning tracks, suggesting future campaigns will centre on Chester and similar venues.
