Constitution River delivered a dominant performance in the Prix du Jockey Club, completing a one‑two‑three sweep for Aidan O’Brien at Chantilly. The Dee Stakes winner, drawn from stall 15, stayed wide before moving across to shadow stablemates Montreal and Hawk Mountain, then surged to the lead in the straight. Ryan Moore rode the colt home, with Hawk Mountain second and Montreal third.

Going off as 5‑2 joint favourite alongside Ombudsman, Constitution River was expected to thrive over ten furlongs, a distance O’Brien identified as ideal for the Wootton Bassett son. After a straightforward ride, the trainer praised the colt’s temperament and speed, noting the horse is still a “baby” and will be handled gently through the summer, with an eye on the Arc trial later.

The French Derby triumph marks O’Brien’s third victory in the race and the first one‑two‑three finish for his Ballydoyle yard since Found’s 2015 sweep at Chantilly. Moore hailed Constitution River as “quite a special horse” capable of extending his trip. O’Brien confirmed the colt will target an Arc trial before a possible autumn campaign, cementing his status among Europe’s elite three‑year‑olds.
