Inter Milan are interested in signing Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, according to Sky in Italy, though any deal would be financially complex. The Italian champions want a central defender this summer and view Romero as a key target alongside free agent John Stones. Spurs may allow the Argentina international to depart if a suitable offer arrives, despite his contract running until 2029. The 28-year-old missed the end of last season with a knee injury and faced criticism for initially planning to watch his boyhood club Belgrano instead of Tottenham's final Premier League game, though he ultimately attended.

Roberto De Zerbi has outlined Tottenham's need for two attacking signings after a record £237m spend on six players, including £100m for Sandro Tonali, £85m for Mateus Fernandes and £52m for Jan Paul van Hecke. Free transfers for Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka have also been completed, but De Zerbi insists "first level" additions are required to start his new project.

Juventus are revisiting interest in goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as an alternative to Emi Martinez, while also exploring Parma's Zion Suzuki. Vicario, expected to leave, missed the pre-season tour with a minor injury. De Zerbi added that Spurs must find a "new solution" for Lucas Bergvall if the midfielder wishes to exit, with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle showing interest. Meanwhile, Mohammed Kudus is "very close" to returning from a muscle injury.
