England crashed to a second heavy defeat at Lord's in just over a week as India wrapped up a 270-run victory in the historic first women's Test at the ground. Set a record 457 to win, the hosts were bowled out for 186 in just over 90 minutes on day four.

Sophie Ecclestone (50) offered resistance with her maiden international fifty after being dropped twice and overturning an lbw, before falling last to a beauty from India off-spinner Sneh Rana (4-42). Amy Jones (54) and the tail collapsed quickly as Deepti Sharma (2-36) cleaned up. The match marked the final international appearances for Tammy Beaumont and Heather Knight.

India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, dominated throughout to claim their fourth win in five Tests, including a 347-run victory over England in Navi Mumbai in 2023. Seamer Gaud claimed a five-wicket haul and Yastika Bhatia scored a century to join the Lord's honours board, while Smriti Mandhana made 83 and 70. Ecclestone became the first England women's player on the Test honours board with a second-innings five-for.

Despite bright spots from debutant Mady Villiers and Jones' twin half-centuries, England remain winless in home Tests since 2005. The team now breaks for The Hundred before facing Ireland in September.
