The 2026 Randox Grand National weight allocations have been revealed with 2024 winner I Am Maximus heading the field at 11st 12lb. The Willie Mullins-trained 10-year-old, who finished second in last year's race, carries the heaviest burden for the April 11 steeplechase at Aintree. This marks a significant responsibility for the horse aiming to become a multiple Grand National champion.

I Am Maximus's stablemate Nick Rockett follows closely at 11st 11lb, while last year's third-place finisher Grangeclare West carries 11st 10lb. The current favorite, Oliver Greenall-trained Iroko, has been allotted 11st 1lb, just two pounds more than his 2025 allocation. Trainer Josh Guerriero expressed mild frustration at the slight increase but remains confident in his horse's chances.

British Horseracing Authority handicapper Martin Greenwood noted the exceptional quality in this year's field, pointing out that the first three finishers last year were all rated 160-plus. He emphasized that a repeat victory for I Am Maximus would likely set a modern-era record for the highest mark a horse has won off. With the weights now published, connections have just under two months to prepare their contenders for what promises to be another thrilling renewal of the world's greatest steeplechase.
