Henry Coates, a 20-year-old Englishman without a PDC Tour card, sensationally won his maiden title at Players Championship 25 in Hildesheim, Germany. Competing as a top-up player from the Challenge Tour, Coates defeated Damon Heta 8-4 in the final with an impressive 104.88 average.

Coates becomes the fifth player in history to win a PDC ranking title without holding a Tour card. "Hopefully this is just the start," stated Coates, reflecting on his hard-earned victory. "I've played for so many years and now the hard work and practice is paying off."

Notable upsets saw top-ranked Gian van Veen bow out in the round of 64, losing 6-3 to Canada's Jim Long. Michael van Gerwen, despite progressing through his initial matches, was defeated in the last 16 by Jeffrey De Graaf, who won five consecutive legs to secure the victory. Beau Greaves also reached the round of 16 in her first tournament since the Women's World Matchplay but lost 6-3 to Niko Springer.
