Australia face West Indies in Tuesday's ICC Women's T20 World Cup semi-final at The Oval, with vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner highlighting the danger posed by Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin. The six-time champions topped Group 1 with five wins, but Gardner stressed her side must respect a West Indies team packed with experience and match-winning potential.

West Indies scraped into the last four after a shock loss to Ireland opened the door for New Zealand. England's Danni Wyatt-Hodge eliminated the White Ferns with a brilliant batting display, sparing Matthews' team elimination. Despite their unconvincing form, Gardner knows Matthews and Dottin can single-handedly change games when firing.

Matthews' tournament scores include 48 off 37 against New Zealand, though she's managed just 14, 17, 14 and 22 in subsequent matches. Dottin has contributed only 72 runs across five innings. However, Matthews owns the record for most T20I runs against Australia (507) and smashed 132 off 64 deliveries in Sydney last year.

Ellyse Perry, who featured in the 2016 final where West Indies triumphed, dismissed comparisons to that era. Australia's recent series sweeps over West Indies in March and April, plus their warm-up match victory, give them psychological edge heading into Tuesday's clash.
