Twenty‑eight‑year‑old Timothy Fosu‑Mensah confirmed he remains a free agent after leaving Bayer Leverkusen. Two serious knee injuries – one at Fulham in 2019 and another in 2022 – sidelined him for long periods, yet he trains with Crystal Palace’s U21 side to stay fit. He has been club‑less for two years, while former Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes gave personal encouragement during rehab.

Fosu‑Mensah broke into Manchester United at 18, winning a Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup before moving to Germany. He recalls debuting against Arsenal after Louis van Gaal urged him to stay ready, and he praised United’s recent form under interim manager Michael Carrick, noting points earned against City and Arsenal. He also featured in Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga run under Xabi Alonso.

Now fully recovered, he says the injuries taught him patience and fuels his desire to return to top‑level football. Fosu‑Mensah remains hopeful of earning a Euro 2020‑type call‑up and stresses that United’s Champions League qualification validates the club’s direction. He is actively seeking a club willing to sign him immediately. He named Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes as modern role models whose versatility inspired his own play.
