Immanuel Feyi-Waboso is expected to be fit for England's Nations Championship campaign this autumn after receiving a positive update on his hamstring injury. The explosive wing hobbled off in the second half of Exeter's 34-28 victory over Newcastle last weekend.

Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter insists Feyi-Waboso is expected to return sooner rather than later, suggesting he should be available for the opening Nations Championship fixture against Australia on November 8. Baxter said the scan does not show up too much and that testing has been very good. "We're hopeful that we can treat the symptoms he's showing and see where he gets to over the next week or so," he said. Baxter added that physios see no sign of a long-term issue, and that the player may not need much intervention.

Feyi-Waboso has been limited to 16 caps since making his debut two years ago due to a series of injuries including shoulder, hamstring and concussion. The 23-year-old is one of 25 centrally-contracted players, giving England control over his medical arrangements, and he has already been assessed by one of their physios.

Baxter acknowledged the delicate situation between club and country. "We're desperate for Manny to play because we've got some important games and England want him to be able to feature in the autumn," he said. "Hopefully there won't be any dispute based on where Manny feels he is."
