Eve Muirhead, Team GB curling skip who won gold at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, is coming out of retirement to target a mixed doubles gold at the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps. The 32-year-old retired in 2022 after completing a set of Olympic medals — bronze in 2014, fourth in 2018, and gold in 2022 — but says the "fire's re-lit."

Since retiring, Muirhead transitioned to administration, leading Team GB at the Winter Youth Olympics in 2024 and being appointed Chef de Mission for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games. Yet she felt unfinished business in mixed doubles, having won the World Championships with partner Bobby Lammie but missing selection for Beijing 2022.

Inspired by comebacks from Serena Williams and Lindsey Vonn, Muirhead wants to prove women can return to elite sport after breaks for family or new careers. She relocated from Scotland to North West England and took three-and-a-half years off, throwing barely any stones, which she says made her stronger and more relaxed.

"I'm most definitely going back there to push hard for number one to get selected," she told Sky Sports. "It's going to be a tough road... but of course that's the dream."
