Eve Muirhead, the 2008 Olympic gold‑medal curler, has revoked her retirement after serving as Team GB’s chef de mission at the Games, citing the experience as a catalyst for her comeback after four years away.

She says her competitive spirit never faded and that being surrounded by elite sport rekindled her drive. Muirhead feels refreshed, physically strong and eager for the challenge, believing she can perform at Olympic level again.

Her former gold‑medal teammates, Vicky Drummond (32) and Jen Dodds, are also returning, with Drummond pairing with Euan Kyle in the mixed‑doubles programme. Drummond wants to show her daughter Sophie that motherhood doesn’t end ambition, while Muirhead, an intensive care nurse, hopes her return means more than just competition, inspiring future athletes.

She is uncertain where the journey will lead but is excited to find out.
