England Needs Extra Seamer for World Cup

Stuart Broad believes England must trial an additional fast bowler ahead of next year's Cricket World Cup, following their struggles in the ODI series against India. "England are eighth in the world rankings and are playing like they are eighth," Broad stated. "They need to get more experience into the roles of the players."

Despite recent T20 success, England's ODI form is concerning, with a six-wicket defeat to India marking their 14th loss in their last 20 matches. Joe Root's 76 and Liam Dawson's 50 guided England to 259, but it proved insufficient. Shubman Gill's 80 was key for India, who recovered from early wickets.

Broad highlighted the lack of support for frontline quicks like Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue. "I feel England need one more fast bowler to back up that group," he said, suggesting players like Brydon Carse, Gus Atkinson, or Saqib Mahmood should be given opportunities. The focus on World Cup preparations implies a need for bowlers who can exploit conditions in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
