Novak Djokovic was upset by Thiago Agustin Tirante in the second round of the Cincinnati Open, marking his first match since Wimbledon. Djokovic, who won the first set 6-2, struggled with the heat and humidity, losing the next two sets 6-4. He appeared to vomit at one stage and took a medical timeout during the two hours and 45 minutes match.

Tirante, who called it the "best win of my career," will face Martin Landaluce next. Djokovic was the third seed, with world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz withdrawing. Top seed Alexander Zverev is still competing.

In the women's tournament, Britain's Katie Boulter was eliminated in the second round by Linda Noskova. Noskova won 6-3 6-3, converting four break points and serving 10 aces. Boulter had ended a five-match losing streak in the first round.
