Steve Clarke has signed a new contract to continue as Scotland head coach until the 2030 World Cup. The 62-year-old, whose deal was expiring after this summer's tournament, becomes the only manager to lead Scotland to three major tournaments. His current contract runs through the 2026 World Cup in the USA, with the squad preparing to face Haiti in their opening match on June 14.

Under Clarke's leadership, Scotland has qualified for three consecutive major tournaments - Euro 2020, Euro 2024, and now World Cup 2026. He holds the record for most Scotland matches managed (76) and has transformed the national team after their 28-year absence from World Cup competition. His contract extension brings stability following qualification through dramatic victories including Scott McTominay's famous overhead kick against Denmark.

Scottish FA chief executive Ian Maxwell praised Clarke's record of three finals tournament qualifications out of four, emphasizing that "we cannot rest on our achievements." The extension provides certainty for the squad heading into the World Cup, with Clarke now focused on building toward the 2028 Euros while developing youth talent through the national pipeline.
