Cheltenham Festival Tips: Blake's 20/1 Value Pick

Racing analyst Kevin Blake offers his selections for day two of the Cheltenham Festival, including a 20/1 outsider in the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle. Blake's column enters Thursday's action in profit after Johnnywho's victory in the Ultima Handicap Chase and Il Etait Temps winning Wednesday's Champion Chase, providing welcome relief after the variance inherent in major meetings like Cheltenham and Royal Ascot.

Blake's first selection is Impose Toi in the Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle at 3.20. The Nicky Henderson-trained eight-year-old showed promise earlier this season before finishing down the field in the Cleeve Hurdle, a defeat Blake attributes to tactical difficulties in a slowly-run race rather than any deficiency in stamina. With Nico De Boinville expected to employ more patient tactics in the larger field, Blake believes the horse can at least hit the frame.

For the Pertemps Network Final at 4.40, Blake backs Lavida Adiva at 20/1+. The Ruth Jefferson-trained seven-year-old has won two Listed races over hurdles but is better suited to races with more pace to work with. Blake expects the bigger field to allow for the patient ride the hold-up performer needs to challenge late.
