Charley Hull has downplayed any rivalry with world No. 1 Nelly Korda ahead of the AIG Women's Open, admitting it has been 'hurtful' to have numerous near-misses in majors. Hull, ranked world No. 7, is among the British hopefuls aiming to be the first Englishwoman to win a major since Georgia Hall in 2018 at the same venue, Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Hull has two runner-up finishes in the AIG Women's Open in the last three years, adding to her five second-place finishes in majors, including one to Korda at the US Women's Open in June. "I don't really see it as a rivalry at the minute, because no offence, Nelly [Korda] has got however many majors and I've got none," Hull stated. "Let me get my major in first and then that's something we can think about in the future. What Nelly is doing for the game of golf is unbelievable and so good to watch."

Lottie Woad, the highest-ranked Englishwoman at world No. 5, also expressed her ambition to win a 'dream' major title at Lytham, noting the venue's history of British winners. "I think for any British player, this would be the dream one to win," Woad said.
