Bournemouth were controversially denied a penalty in their 0-0 draw with Brentford at the Vitality Stadium. Less than 90 seconds after halftime, Marcus Tavernier was brought down by Michael Kayode in the box, but VAR Darren England ruled against awarding a spot-kick. The incident occurred as Tavernier darted past Kayode and appeared to be tripped on his Achilles.

Tavernier was adamant it should have been a penalty, telling TNT Sports he felt contact on his arm and Achilles. Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola passionately gestured for VAR intervention, believing it was a clear foul. The Cherries had several other chances, with Tavernier hitting the post twice and Evanilson having a goal disallowed for offside.

Despite dominating possession and creating better opportunities, Bournemouth couldn't break through Brentford's defense. The draw leaves Bournemouth in ninth place, while Brentford miss the chance to leapfrog Chelsea into sixth. Both teams remain in European contention, but will need to be more clinical in front of goal to achieve their ambitions this season.
