Arsenal have agreed a deal with Club Brugge to sign winger Christos Tzolis for a fee understood to be £34m, a record for the Belgian Pro League.
The move comes after Arsenal sold Leandro Trossard to Besiktas for £17m, leaving a gap in the forward line that Tzolis is expected to fill.

The 24-year-old, formerly of Norwich City, scored 17 goals and added 23 assists in 36 league appearances last season. He is described as a versatile winger who can also operate as a No 10, with an injury record similar to Trossard’s – only two matches sidelined during his time at Brugge.

Former Brugge assistant manager Hayk Milkon told Sky Sports that Tzolis can start wide, cut inside, and is strongest near the goal, noting his high work rate and sprint distance. Milkon added that Tzolis needs to improve his emotional stability, a trait Arteta once described as a “moaner” in Trossard.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Tzolis is said to be independent of their interest in Morgan Rogers.

The club’s upcoming Premier League fixtures begin with Coventry at home on August 21.
.
