Mirra Andreeva secured her spot in a second WTA Tour final this season after dispatching Elena-Gabriela Ruse in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, in the Linz Open semi-final. The world number ten overcame an early wobble, surrendering serve twice before dominating the latter stages of the first set against the Romanian.

Anastasia Potapova joins Andreeva after a convincing 6-4, 6-2 victory over Donna Vekic. Potapova managed to cling on to an early lead in the opening set before asserting complete control in the second, taking a decisive 4-0 advantage. This victory marks Potapova’s first win over Vekic in their last three encounters.

Potapova’s presence in the final is historic; she is the first player representing Russia to contest the Linz championship match since the event joined the Tour calendar in 1991. The upcoming final pits the 18-year-old Andreeva against Potapova, with Andreeva leading their head-to-head record 3-1.

Their previous meetings have all occurred away from the clay surface, setting up an interesting dynamic for the final showdown. Andreeva is the slight favourite given her recent form and success in their last two outings, promising an entertaining conclusion to the Upper Austria Ladies Linz tournament.
