Carlos Alcaraz reached his first ATP Paris Masters final with a 6-4 6-4 win over Casper Ruud, setting up a rematch with Ben Shelton. The Spaniard, 23, broke Ruud in each set and closed the match in 97 minutes.
This is Alcaraz's sixth final of the year and extends his winning streak to eight matches. He said he feels fresher and more ambitious this season. Alcaraz earlier saved two match points against Taylor Fritz in a dramatic quarterfinal.
Shelton, who beat Alcaraz in a five-set US Open quarterfinal, reached the final by defeating Luca Van Assche 5-7 6-3 6-4. The American lost to Alexander Zverev in the US Open final. The Paris Masters final airs Sunday on Sky Sports.
