Taylor Fritz missed out on the last ATP Finals spot after squandering two match points in a 6-7 (10-12) 7-5 6-3 quarter-final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Masters. Fritz led 5-3 in the second set and had a match point on his own serve at 5-4, but Alcaraz rallied to win in three sets. The victory secured Alcaraz's place in Turin alongside compatriot Rafael Jodar.
Fritz's loss ended his hopes of joining fellow Americans Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe at the season-ending event. Alcaraz, who had already qualified, will face the winner of Casper Ruud versus Nuno Borges in the semi-finals. Home hopes in Turin now rest on Flavio Cobolli, as Jannik Sinner is out with a knee injury.
