World Cup Final Ball Gets Golden Makeover

The official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Adidas Trionda, has received a significant upgrade for the tournament's final stages. Through 92 matches, the Trionda has seen 269 goals scored across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. A new golden version will be used for the semifinals, the third-place playoff, and the final itself.

The updated ball features a golden re-skin, inspired by the World Cup trophy. Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, and Lamine Yamal were pictured with the new ball, though their teams must still win their upcoming matches to feature it. The names of the host cities for the final stages – Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, and New York/New Jersey – are prominently displayed in gold lettering.

This marks the first time in World Cup history that the match ball has undergone a complete visual redesign for the latter stages of the tournament, rather than just minor colorway adjustments. The move highlights the increasing commercialization and branding surrounding the sport's premier event.
