USMNT Jersey Color Clash Blamed for Belgium Loss

Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie criticized the similar jersey colors between the U.S. and Belgium during Saturday's 5-2 friendly defeat in Atlanta. The Americans wore red and white striped jerseys with blue shorts, while Belgium's predominantly white kits featured pink and light blue accents. Both teams struggled to distinguish players during the match.

Pulisic said the color similarity made it 'difficult' to identify teammates, especially when scanning for passes. 'It's not an excuse at all because both teams deal with that, but that's just... that can't happen,' he told reporters. McKennie agreed, noting players had to take extra time on the ball or play one-touch passes to avoid confusion.

U.S. Soccer confirmed a multi-step jersey approval process was followed, including referee review, but no conflicts were flagged. Belgium's Dodi Lukebakio scored twice as the Red Devils exploded for four second-half goals. The U.S. team will face Portugal in Atlanta next as Mauricio Pochettino prepares his World Cup roster.
