Shakhtar Donetsk, the Ukrainian champions, have identified Chelsea's Stamford Bridge as their preferred venue for this season's Champions League matches, sources have informed ESPN. The club has previously hosted European games in Germany, Slovenia, and Poland.

London emerged as the desired location for the upcoming season, with three London grounds shortlisted: Fulham's Craven Cottage, Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium, and Chelsea's Stamford Bridge. Shakhtar is reportedly set to play their European fixtures at the 40,000-capacity Stamford Bridge, located in west London.

Due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Shakhtar has been unable to play in their home city of Donetsk since May 2, 2014. Following the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, their European matches were moved outside Ukraine, with games held across various cities in Poland, Slovenia, and Germany. This move to London aims to reduce the extensive travel required for players and staff.

Chelsea's men's team not qualifying for European competition this season makes Stamford Bridge available during the necessary Champions League match windows. The final agreement is pending.
