Raheem Sterling has joined Feyenoord on a free transfer until the end of the 2025-26 season. The 31-year-old forward was a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Chelsea last month. According to sources, as many as 18 clubs across Europe's top four leagues were interested in signing Sterling, who sought Champions League football and developed a strong rapport with Feyenoord manager Robin van Persie.

Sterling, who has 82 England caps and won four Premier League titles during his career, had 18 months remaining on his Chelsea deal but negotiated his exit to revive his career. He hasn't played competitively since May and was training separately from Chelsea's first team after being deemed surplus to requirements. The England international has previously played for Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal, making this his first move abroad.

Van Persie expressed excitement about the signing, calling Sterling's football resume "speaks for itself" and noting his ability to change games. Feyenoord, currently second in the Eredivisie and 17 points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven, views Sterling as a valuable addition for their push in the second half of the season. The Dutch club hopes Sterling's experience and quality will help them achieve their goals in both domestic and European competitions.
