Pulisic Confident Goals Will Return for USMNT at World Cup Despite Scoring Drought

Christian Pulisic isn't worried about his current scoreless run ahead of the World Cup, insisting goals will come when the Americans open their campaign against Paraguay on June 12. The AC Milan winger went 19 games without scoring after December 28, and has eight international matches without a goal since November 2024.

Pulisic emphasized this dry spell isn't new to him. 'I've had this happen before in my career,' he said Saturday before facing Senegal. Coach Mauricio Pochettino backed his player, stating: 'He is going to score in World Cup. Yes, I really trust in that.' Pulisic brings 32 goals in 84 caps and scored the decisive goal against Iran at the 2022 World Cup that sent the U.S. to the round of 16.

The upcoming friendlies against Senegal and Germany serve as final preparations before the World Cup opener. Defender Chris Richards won't feature Sunday while recovering from two torn ankle ligaments. 'These are two really strong opponents, so we have a great opportunity to test ourselves,' Pulisic noted.

Despite Milan's disappointing finish that saw them miss Champions League qualification and dismiss both coach Allegri and CEO Furlani, Pulisic maintains his preparation hasn't changed. His experience makes him the most capped player on the current roster and the only survivor from the 2017 qualifying failure.
