The spotlight was on struggling Manchester United as they welcomed AFC Bournemouth to Old Trafford without star player Bruno Fernandes in the XI, after he was dropped for his post-match comments last week, but it didn't help as United lost 3-0 to pile the pressure on manager Michael Carrick.
Elsewhere, Liverpool beat high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 at Anfield, while Crystal Palace lost 2-0 to Newcastle United and Hull City drew 1-1 with Brentford.
The defeats and draws left the Premier League table in flux, with United's loss marking one of their heaviest home defeats in recent memory and raising further questions about Carrick's future at Old Trafford.
