Philadelphia Puts Fans First With Free B‑Line Rides for World Cup

Philadelphia’s World Cup organizers have rolled out a free‑train scheme to ease travel for fans leaving matches. Thanks to a partnership with World Cup sponsor AirBnB, every B‑Line ride from NRG Station—adjacent to Lincoln Financial Field—will be complimentary from half‑time until two hours post‑finals. The move follows criticism over steep travel costs elsewhere in the nation today.

Spectators heading to the stadium will pay only $2.90 (£2.14) for any B‑Line trip after the local network announced no fare hikes for finals. This contrasts sharply with New Jersey’s plan, where fans traveling from central New York to MetLife Stadium face a $150 (£111) round‑trip fare—an issue FIFA flagged could deter attendance in 2026.

Philadelphia’s initiative comes as the city hosts group‑stage games against Brazil and France and a round‑of‑16 clash on July 4. Governor Josh Shapiro praised the offer, saying free rides would let fans return home safely and affordably. Similar fan‑friendly transport plans were announced in Kansas City and Dallas for the 2026 World Cup fans today.

Kansas City will provide free bus travel from its airport to the fan festival and sell unlimited regional passes at $25 per week. Dallas organisers will charge just $6 round‑trip to Centreport for downtown fans, with complimentary buses covering the rest. These measures aim to keep travel costs low and avoid the backlash seen in New Jersey of this season.
