The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is set to begin its 2027 season on February 11 in Los Angeles, marking the earliest start in league history. This adjustment is necessary to accommodate the Women's World Cup, requiring a seven-week break during the season.

Angel City FC will host the season opener at BMO Stadium. The NWSL's decision to start in February also coincides with Super Bowl XLI, which will be played on February 14 nearby. "Given the realities of the match calendar in 2027, we tried to think through if we're playing on Super Bowl weekend, how do we try to be a part of the conversation and not separate the sports world, but just aggregate it more around that area?" stated Carlin Hudson, NWSL's vice president of strategy.

This early start means teams will begin preseason in January, leading to the shortest off-season in NWSL history. The league will also hold the NWSL Challenge Cup on February 6 at a neutral, warm-weather site. Despite challenges with weather and venue availability, especially with MLS also undergoing calendar changes, the NWSL aims to release its full schedule in December, acknowledging potential date adjustments.
