José Mourinho faces a two-match ban after his fiery confrontation with FC Porto during last Sunday's O Clássico. The Portuguese federation's disciplinary council handed the 63-year-old Benfica manager separate punishments for kicking a ball toward Porto's bench and his heated exchange with assistant coach Lucho González.

Mourinho received a one-match suspension for leaving his technical area and kicking the ball in celebration of a goal, claiming he intended to send it into the stands. He also received an 11-day suspension for making an insulting gesture toward González and calling him "small," which González responded to by calling Mourinho "a traitor" and referencing his 2004 Champions League title with Porto.

Benfica announced they will appeal the "unfair and unjustified" rulings. The one-match ban takes effect Saturday against Arouca, while the 11-day suspension would keep Mourinho out of the March 21 match against Vitoria. Portuguese media noted the punishments cannot be served concurrently, extending Mourinho's absence beyond the standard two games.
