With the NWSL playoffs over, eight teams face crucial decisions. North Carolina Courage, despite Ashley Sanchez's record-tying 20 goals, missed the playoffs again. Their biggest question: will they spend aggressively this winter? Key losses like Manaka Matsukubo and Kerolin have hurt, and they remain a lower-spending club.
Denver Summit FC, in their expansion year, finished 10th but showed flashes of brilliance. With veterans like Lindsey Heaps, Natasha Flint, and Janine Sonis, their burning question is whether to build for a immediate title run or focus on long-term growth after blowing late leads.
