Mexico Reveals Third World Cup Kit Rarity

Mexico has unveiled a third alternate kit for the 2026 World Cup, a rare move among participating nations. The jersey celebrates Mexico's third hosting of the tournament, following previous events in 1970 and 1986. The collaboration with Mexican clothing brand Someone Somewhere creates a symbol of national unity as co-hosting duties begin next month.

The predominantly black jersey features an Aztec-influenced zig-zag pattern made from stylized M and X lettering. The design incorporates Mexico's tricolor flag on the federation crest and sleeve stripes. Created by rural artists and artisans supported by Someone Somewhere, the kit carries cultural significance beyond its aesthetic appeal.

While FIFA changed rules in 2022 allowing more than two kits per team, few nations have embraced this option. Mexico joins Canada, Congo DR, Ecuador, Haiti, and Norway as teams showing creativity through multiple uniform designs for tournament preparation.
