Lisandro Martínez has joined Manchester United's preseason training camp in the Republic of Ireland as the last player to return following the World Cup. The Argentine, who played in Argentina's loss to Spain in the final on July 19, means Michael Carrick has an almost-full squad ahead of Wednesday's friendly against Leeds at Dublin's Croke Park. On Sunday, England internationals Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo returned amid speculation over Rashford's future.

After Wednesday's match, United travels to Wroclaw, Poland for their final preseason game against AC Milan and former boss Ruben Amorim. United has trained at Carton House in Maynooth, returning to Carrington between matches. Assistant Steve Holland said this approach gave them control of facilities amid World Cup disruptions. "We've been in control of the facilities, the pitch, the recovery," Holland said. United's Premier League campaign starts at Hull on Aug. 22, with Carrick—who took over in January—looking to build on last season's third-place finish and Champions League return.

The club backed him with signings of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. "There is genuine optimism this year with how the team was last year, with some of the additions we've made," Holland added. "Champions League football is where Manchester United should be."
