Brazil's legendary Maracanã stadium will host both the opening match and final of the 2027 Women's World Cup, FIFA announced on Thursday. As hosts and top seed in Group A, Brazil begins play on June 24 at Maracanã before facing matches in São Paulo and Brasília. The July 25 final returns to Rio de Janeiro's iconic venue, which also hosts a semifinal.

Eight Brazilian cities—Rio, São Paulo, Brasília, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, and Fortaleza—will stage matches through the round of 16, with all venues hosting at least seven games including knockout fixtures. FIFA president Gianni Infantino praised the anticipated passion of Brazilian fans across the vibrant host cities.

Maracanã becomes only the third stadium to host both men's and women's World Cup finals, joining Sweden's former Råsunda Stadium and California's Rose Bowl. FIFA also conducted a preliminary playoff draw in Switzerland, with Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Ghana, and Ecuador competing for global playoff spots.

The match schedule is available on FIFA's digital platforms, with updates following the final draw later this year.
