Man City Threatens Legal Over Haaland Promise

Manchester City have threatened legal action after Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme vowed to sign Erling Haaland if elected. During a Spanish TV appearance, the entrepreneur guaranteed the Norwegian striker's arrival and displayed a Real Madrid shirt with 'Haaland 9' on his back.

City dismissed the claims as "untrue," stating there is "no chance" of Haaland moving to Madrid. The club is considering legal action over the use of their player's image. Haaland signed a 10-year contract with City in January 2025 and recently expressed being "super happy" at the Etihad Stadium.

City also have no intention of selling Rodri this summer despite Riquelme's promise. The midfielder has a year left on his contract and initial talks about a new deal have already taken place. Haaland's agent and father dismissed the transfer claims as "all very entertaining but not true."
