Infantino defends FIFA vision amid Nordic FAs' lost confidence

Gianni Infantino vowed to 'grow football in every corner of the world' despite the six Nordic Football Associations — Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Faroe Islands — announcing they had 'lost confidence' in him. Speaking at a FIFA Forward-organised under-14 event with Caribbean Football Union members in Trinidad and Tobago, Infantino stressed FIFA's commitment to narrowing the gap between major and smaller nations. He emphasized dialogue and engagement, saying it was important to listen and express views.

Most Nordic nations had already indicated they would not back his re-election at the FIFA Congress in Zurich in March. Norway FA president Lise Klaveness accused Infantino of 'management by fear' following the removal of COO Jean-François Pathy. The Nordic FAs joined UEFA in calling for binding assurances against private ownership in FIFA governance and supported a third-party review of the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal.

Although UEFA and CONMEBOL have called for his removal, Infantino retains majority support in Africa and Asia, while Oceania's largest member, New Zealand, withdrew its endorsement despite confederation-wide backing.
