Manchester City have signed goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli from Marseille, the club have confirmed. The Argentina international has moved to the Etihad Stadium in a deal worth up to €2 million or which €1.75m is fixed. He has signed a two-year contract.

The 34-year-old, who had a brief spell at City between 2016 and 2017, replaces James Trafford and will act as understudy to No.1 Gianluigi Donnarumma. "This is an amazing opportunity for me and one I had to grasp," Rulli said. "When the chance to join Manchester City comes along you have to go for it."

City's director of football Hugo Viana said, "It's a pleasure to welcome Gerónimo back to the club. The experience he brings is obvious -- he has played at the very highest level for many years." The qualities he will bring are ones we need, and together with Gigio and Marcus make a great team.
