Gavi Back for Barcelona vs. Sevilla Clash After Long Injury Absence

Gavi is set to return from a seven-month injury absence to face Sevilla in LaLiga on Sunday, his first appearance since Barça's win over Levante on August 23. The 21-year-old midfielder required surgery to resolve a meniscus problem in his right knee, sidelining him since then. Barça coach Hansi Flick confirmed the good news, stating, 'He's available again and I am really happy.' Flick added the midfielder has the right attitude but emphasized a step-by-step approach, highlighting it's a special game for Gavi.

This injury is the second significant setback for the teenager, following an ACL tear in late 2024 that kept him out for almost a year. He returned last season, making 42 appearances, before the current campaign was halted by the meniscus issue. Gavi's availability is crucial as Barça fight for both LaLiga and the Champions League, hosting Sevilla this weekend to maintain their four-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the table.
