France manager Didier Deschamps admitted his team "weren't good enough" to defeat Spain in the FIFA World Cup semifinals, attributing the 2-0 loss to a lack of technical soundness. "To have any hope, we needed to be at our best. Unfortunately, we weren't," Deschamps stated.

Spain secured their victory with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal (penalty) and Pedro Porro. Deschamps highlighted Spain's effective defense, which limited France's attacking options and capitalized on their technical errors. France's usually potent attacking trio of Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, and Michael Olise struggled, managing only five shot attempts against Spain.

Deschamps also questioned the refereeing, particularly the penalty decision that led to Spain's first goal. Despite the loss ending France's bid for a third consecutive World Cup final, Deschamps acknowledged the team's overall accomplishments during his 14-year tenure, which is set to conclude after the third-place match. Zinedine Zidane is reportedly set to succeed him.
