Wimbledon star Arthur Fery continued his dream summer by reaching the final of the Winston-Salem Open on Friday. The 24-year-old Briton advanced after Australian James Duckworth retired through injury with Fery leading 6-4 1-2. Fery, who defeated Duckworth in Cincinnati two weeks ago, said he was happy to reach the final but not the way he wanted it to end. He played well in the first set, securing a break, and noted Duckworth was hindered at the start of the second set. Fery's fairy-tale Wimbledon semi-final run earlier this summer has him set for a new career high on Monday, rising from outside the top 100 eight weeks ago.

Fery will face Peruvian Ignacio Buse in the final on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Tennis from 9pm BST. Buse, the world No 36, reached his second ATP Tour final by defeating Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 6-2 4-6 6-1. The 22-year-old's career highlight came in May when he won his first tour-level trophy at the ATP 500 in Hamburg. A year ago ranked No 135, Buse will be seeded at the US Open where he faces American Marcos Giron in the first round.

Fery, set for his main draw debut at the US Open starting Sunday, faces a tough opening round against Italy's world No 14 Lorenzo Musetti.
