Cristiano Ronaldo wins Juventus wage dispute

A Turin labor court dismissed Juventus' appeal, upholding a ruling that Cristiano Ronaldo will keep €9.75m in unpaid wages. The club confirmed the decision to ESPN, stating the amount was already paid and set aside in their 2023-24 budget. Juventus must also cover €80,000 in legal costs.

The dispute originated from a pay cut Ronaldo agreed to during the COVID-19 pandemic. An arbitration tribunal initially ruled in April 2024 that Juventus owed half of his €19.5m request. This latest judgment closes the chapter for Ronaldo, now at Al Nassr, who won three Serie A titles during his time with the Old Lady.

Juventus' legal team will review the ruling before deciding on a further appeal to a higher court. While the financial impact is minimal due to prior accounting, the case highlights the lingering contractual tensions from the pandemic era. Ronaldo's victory solidifies his position in a long-running off-field battle.
