Inter Miami has appointed Cristian 'Kily' González as its new head coach, replacing Guillermo Hoyos, the club announced Thursday. The Argentine takes over during a five-match winless streak that includes four losses and one draw across the Leagues Cup and MLS regular season. González will assume duties once he receives work permits, with Hoyos continuing provisionally until then.

González previously coached Argentine clubs Rosario Central, Unión (Santa Fe), and Platense. As a player, he began with Rosario Central in 1993 before moving to Europe, featuring for La Liga sides Valencia and Zaragoza and Serie A's Inter Milan. He earned caps for Argentina, playing alongside current Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi in two 2005 World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay.

Hoyos initially replaced Javier Mascherano as interim manager last April, later becoming permanent after the World Cup. He started 6-1-1, earning 19 of 24 points with 26 goals in eight matches — the best start for an Inter Miami coach since the club's 2020 MLS debut. The club thanked Hoyos for his commitment.

Separately, Inter Miami is close to signing 19-year-old attacking midfielder Riquelme Fillipi from Palmeiras for 60% of his rights at a fee between $5.5 million and $6 million, per ESPN Brasil.
